Uganda Cubs head coach Laryea Kingston has named a final 27 man squad to represent Uganda at the AFCON 2026 tournament to be staged in Morocco between May 13 and June 2nd.

The team will also be aspiring to qualify for the U-17 World Cup which will be hosted by Qatar in November this year.

The squad is dominated by players from Amus College with four, followed by Buddo SS and Vipers Junior Team with three.

Notably, there are no players from Uganda’s most exciting football Academy who provided the core of the previous team that qualified for the World Cup and also reached the quarterfinals.

It was revealed to this website that the owners and coaches at El Cambio wanted to have a preferential treatment for their players before being named to the final squad.

A source at the Federation of Uganda Football Associations asserted that El Cambio director Thomas Thor wanted to have his players train at their own grounds before linking up with team which the head coach could not append to and thus choosing to leave them out altogether.
