Kitara FC had their Uganda Premier League (UPL) title dream come to an end following a 3-2 defeat to Express FC on Tuesday at Nakivubo.

The Royals needed to win to close the gap on table leaders Viper who had played out to a goalless stalemate at Police FC.

Following defeat against his former side, Wasswa Bbosa’s Kitara now trail Vipers by seven points and cannot match the tally even if they win their remaining two games.

Express took the lead in the 14th minute through Mikidad Ssenyonga who finished off Vincent Adriko’s quality cross.

Kenneth Kimera on loan from Vipers doubled the Red Eagles advantage in the 27th minute of the game.

Henry Wamala netted the third just three minutes later capitalizing on poor defending by Kitara defence.

Kitara pulled one back through Asiki in the 49th minute before Jimmy Kalema made it 3-2 in the 84th minute but their goals were not enough to stage a comeback.

Defeat ends Kitara’s title dream and their only hope for a trophy is in the Stanbic Uganda Cup were they will travel to Vipers for the return leg of their semifinal.
