Vipers SC were for a eighth time crowned Uganda Premier League champions after triumphing in the 2025/26 season.
The Venoms were handed their league trophy on Saturday in front of their fans at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende .
In their final game of the season, Vipers beat Express 2-0 thanks to goals from Karim Watambala and substitute Gusto Mulongo.
Watambala converted from the spot two minutes after the recess following a foul on Yunus Sentamu.
Mulongo put the seal on maximum points in the 69th minute for the Venoms who finished the season with 67 points, five above KCCA who were second placed.
FUFA’s second Vice President Taibu Azar handed over the Magharita trophy to Vipers in the absence of FUFA president Moses Magogo.
In the other games, KCCA thrahsed Mbarara City 4-1 courtesy of goals from 2025/26 top scorer Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Ettiene Katenga, substitute Emmanuel Anyama and Kennedy Muserero.
Mbarara City captain Clinton Kamugisha scored consolation for the visitors. The Ankole Lions finished with ten men after late red for Karim Ramadhan.
SC Villa, finished the season third after a 2-1 win over UPDF, thanks to goals from Isaac Mpagi and Patrick Kakande while Emmanuel Manu Ochen scored for the army men.
Villa climaxed the season with 61 points, six behind the champions.
At Royals Park, Butema, Kitara played out to a 2-2 draw with Police FC.
Umar Kasumba scored the two goals for the Cops who finished the season in 6th place with 47 points.
Patrick Kaddu and Jimmy Kalema struck for the Royals who ended the season with 56 points and in fourth place.
Daniel Jakony of Police was sent off.
Kitara and SC Villa will now turn focus on the Stanbic Ugand Cup final scheduled for Saturday May 30 at Kadiba.
Entebbe UPPC thrashed BUL 4-0 with Eric Ssenjobe scoring a brace with Laban Tibita and Emmanuel Isat also on the scoreboard for Abdullah Mubiru’s men who finished 6th with 51 points.
Dickson Niwamanya scored the all important goal for Maroons in the narrow 1-0 win over Lugazi while NEC ended the campaign with a 2-0 defeat over relegated Calvary. Lawrence Olaboro who has been the shining star for Calvary was on the score sheet along with Shukur Said.
