The Pool Association of Uganda has elected Gideon Onyango as their chairman for the next four years during the Annual General Meeting at Pope Paul Hotel in Rubaga.
Onyango gained 39 votes to beat his challenger Robert Kayanja to the take over leadership at the Association.
He will serve alongside vice chairperson Yusuf Meyan for the next four years with their term set to start in July this year.
Onyango thanked the delegates who voted for him and promised to revive the National Pool league
“I am humbled to have been elected as chairman for the next four years. I thanks all the delegates for turning in huge numbers to vote for their leaders. I promise to revive the National Pool league and other competitions during my tenure. I trust the team that has been elected and call upon those that lost the election to come and we serve the game together.” Said Onyango
Meanwhile, the outgoing chairman Bob Trubish urged the new executive to resolve long-standing financial audit challenges that have hindered the association.
In other positions, George Katongole defeated Emmy Jondu for the Director of Public Relations post. Rogers Ssemanda was elected General Secretary, while Faith Nganda was elected for Women’s Affairs, among others.
