Vipers SC’s title winning coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert has slammed SC Villa’s quality of football under Serbian coach Zeljko Kovacevic.
During an interview with NTV Uganda journalist Gystin Angarukiremu, the Belgian who led Vipers to their eighth league triumph slammed the Jogoos brand of football revealing they only play the first ten minutes.
“Everybody has focused on the last games but the games before nobody was speaking about it. The last games that were like 8 to 9 we struggled to score, but still we had a positive goal difference.”
“Football is about scoring, so you can say that Villa plays nice football but they play two times ten minutes. The first ten minutes and then in the second half after, so is that nice football, No. KCCA has good players but do they know what it’s like to play nice football.” Said Minnaert

Despite Minnaert’s remarks, Villa under Kovacevic have been the more entertaining team with the Serbian tactician improving players such as Najib Yiga, Aslam Ssemakula and Hassan Mubiru during his first year in charge of the record league champions.

Villa is also in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final where they will face Kitara FC on Saturday, 30th May 2026 at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
This will be the Jogoos first ever competition final since the 2015 edition when they beat KCCA FC 3-0 SC through goals from Augustine Nsumba, Abdul Karim Kasule and substitute Yesseri Waibi in the replayed final at Namboole.
