CECAFA has confirmed that 12 teams will take part in this year’s CECAFA Kagame Cup to be held in Kigali, Rwanda.
The 12 include Tanzanian giants Simba who will be making a return to the tournament after an absence of seven years.
Simba are the tournament’s record winners having triumphed six times but their last appearance was a 2-1 defeat in the 2018 final.
Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC will represent Uganda while APR and Rayon Sports will represent the host nation.
Gor Mahia (Kenya), Sudanese giants Al Hilal and El Merriekh, Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars and South Sudanese moneybags Jamus SC are other notable participants.
KVZ FC, Mogadishu City FC and FC Garde Republicaine will represent Zanzibar, Somalia and Djibouti respectively.
Ethiopia, Burundi and Eritrea are the only nations without any representation in this year’s competition.
The games will be played at the King Pele Stadium and the Amahoro National Stadium with the tournament running from July 24th to August 8th
