Express FC are in advanced stages of signing Nicolas Wadada who is now unattached following his exit from Vipers SC.

Swift Sports understands that the talks between both parties have been positive and a compromise is imminent.

Wadada has been the 6th player to depart Vipers following Grant Matsiko, Taddeo Lwanga, Alfred Mudekereza, Livingstone Mulondo and Bashir Ssekagya.

“Thank you and farewell Nicholas Wadada. We wish you all the best on your future endeavours,” Reads a statement from Vipers.

Express are eager to forge a competitive team with a few departures from the squad that played in the final stages of the previous season.

Wadada is expected to add leadership and experience in the team as well as explosive pace and tenacious defending in the team’s right back position should he put pen to paper on the dotted lines.

Wadada is arguably the most experienced player in the UPL having rose to the scene in 2010 with Vipers (Bunamwaya) a side he had a lengthy spell with but also captained to league triumph in 2015 and 2018.

He had a successful stint with Azam FC in Tanzania before joining Ihefu FC and Singida Black Stars before returning to Vipers in 2024.

Express are in search of a new coach following the departure of Jimmy Kintu with Morley Byekwaso the potential candidate.

The Red Eagles have appointed Bukedde TV journalist Becky Cynthia Nakimera as the new club CEO replacing Ashiraf Miiro.
