Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Joseph Put has on Thursday, 6th November 2025 renewed his employment contract with FUFA until 2028.
The Belgian will stay with the Uganda national senior men’s team for another three years after serving his previous two years.
“The FUFA Executive Committee made a rare decision to renew Coach Paul Put’s contract a testament to his outstanding performance. The federation beat off strong competition from some of Africa’s top and wealthiest footballing nations that were after him.” Said FUFA 1st Vice President Justus Mugisha
Put helped Uganda Cranes return to the Africa Cup of Nations due in Morocco this year after missing out on the 2021 and 2023 editions.
During his first two years, Put has been in charge of Uganda 23 times and his record reads; 13 Wins, 3 Draws, 7 losses, 30 goals scored, 24 goals conceded.
Put also came close to guiding Uganda Cranes to a dream World Cup finishing second in their qualifying group behind Algeria who secured a slot in next year’s global showpiece in USA, Canada and Mexico.
Put has previously coached several countries on the African continent such as Gambia, Burkina Faso, Kenya and Congo Brazzaville.
In 2013, Put took Burkina Faso to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, losing to Nigeria.
Uganda is in a tricky AFCON 2025 Group C alongside West African giants Nigeria, Tunisia and neighbours Tanzania.
Before AFCON, Uganda Cranes will have two international matches against CHAD on November 15th and Morocco on the 18th of the same month.
