Victoria Pearls Flagged off for Emerging Women’s Trophy 2025 in Thailand

The Uganda Women’s National Cricket Team (Victoria Pearls) that will represent the country at the Emerging Women’s Trophy 2025 in Thailand has been flagged off on Monday at National Council of Sports (NCS).
The tournament is scheduled from 18th
November to 1st December 2025.
The tournament brings together the top emerging Women’s Cricket Nations in an International showcase of skill, teamwork, and ambition. Matches will be hosted at two iconic venues the Terdthai Cricket Ground and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok.
Victoria Pearls will be looking for inspiration from their successful preparatory 2025 Victoria Series
they swept 5-0 against Canada Women in late October. Teddy Oyella makes a return to the team for Phiona Kulume from the side that travelled to Namibia for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier in late July.
Uganda will open their campaign on November 20th, 2025, against Scotland at Terdthai Cricket Ground, as the Victoria Pearls look to make a strong statement and continue their upward trajectory on the global stage.
This inaugural edition will feature the five women’s associate members with women’s ODI status Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates; plus, the best three teams from the T20I rankings Namibia, Uganda and Tanzania.
The top four from the Emerging Nations Trophy spectacle will progress to another new currently unnamed tournament that will take place in 2027. That tournament will feature four full members that miss out on the 2027 Champions Trophy along with the top four of the preceding Emerging Nations Trophy. These new tournaments are part of the ICC’s plans to expand the Women’s T20 World Cup to 16 teams from 2030. 12 teams will compete in 2026 and expand to 16 by 2030, creating more
qualifying berths and a clearer competitive ladder for emerging programs.
