Independent Kampala Central MP aspirant and Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) President Moses Muhangi wants to push for a bigger national budget for all sports disciplines.
During his campaigns, the UBF boss has always appealed to the sports fraternity in Kampala Central to vote for him on January 15th, 2026 Parliamentary elections.
He promises to push for a bigger national budget for all sports disciplines in the country once he wins the Kampala Central seat.
Muhangi also wants to advocate for more funding and better sports infrastructure which he believes will empower talent and unite communities through sports.
While campaigning at Kisenyi 3 on Thursday, Muhangi stated,
“Once I get a chance to represent the people of Kampala Central, mine will be Consultative to ensure that I represent people well. This mandate is a mandate of the people and it will be a collective effort.”
Several boxing coaches, boxers and musicians endorsed Muhangi for the Kampala seat.
Last week while on official duties in Dubai, Muhangi discussed Ugandan boxing with Deontay Wilder an American professional boxer who previously held the WBC heavyweight title from 2015 to 2020.
He also met boxing legend Manny Pacquiao with whom he held discussions regarding the game of boxing.
He will face a competitive field including NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya, NRM’s Kampala Minister Minsa Kabanda, PFF’s Abdallah Walangalira, DF’s Nakuya Aidah, Abraham Luzzi, and independent Suzan Kushaba, all vying to unseat outgoing MP Muhammad Nsereko (EPU).
