Ali Mwirusi Ramathan has completed a move to Midlands Wanderers FC in the South African second tier.
Mwirusi joins the Pietermaritzburg based club from Uganda Premier League side Express FC where he has spent only the opening half of the season.
Mwirusi made his debut on Wednesday evening and ensured a clean sheet as Midlands Wanderers drew goalless against Casric Stars.
Midlands Wanderers, also nicknamed Abafana Bebatha, currently sits 14th on the National First Division table of 16 teams with 13 points from 15 games played.
The National First Division, officially known as the Motsepe Foundation Championship for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest league of South African football after the South African Premiership.
Mwirusi rose to the scene during the National Schools Championships while playing for Kibuli SS, Amus College and St. Mary’s Kitende.
He played for KCCA FC before moving to Europe where he featured for Villajoyosa CF and Squire Gates FC in the lower divisions of Spain and England respectively.
He also had trials at Wigan Athletic in England and FC Vaulz En-Velin in France.
Mwirusi joins a list of Ugandan goalkeepers plying their trade in South Africa which include Denis Onyango, Jamal Salim Magoola and Isma Watenga.
