Badru Kaddu Mukasa wants to get NEC FC challenging for major title next season after finishing fifth on the Uganda Premier League table 53 points.
The former Express FC head coach has improved results and morale since being brought in following Hussein Mbalangu’s acrimonious November exit, last year.
“Three of our players earning national team call-ups is a big achievement for the club. But we can’t switch off now, the mission is to bring home a trophy. Next season, we must raise our standards and fight for glory.” Said Coach Kaddu
Hannington Ssebwalunyo, Joseph Sseremba and Richard Basangwa are the three NEC players called for international duty.
NEC FC Patron Lt. Gen. James Mugira has also set higher standards for the forthcoming season.
“This season may not have met the expectations we set for ourselves. We had promised to walk the streets of Kampala with our trophy, so compared to last season, we declined from second to fifth.”
Of course, that is not bad, but we need to do better. The results were below our standards as NEC FC.”
“My standards are always very high. I always want to be number one. If we do not become number one, then at least let us be number two, and indeed we were very proud of your performance the other season.”
In their debut season, NEC FC reached the final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup losing 1-0 to Kitara FC and were second on the UPL log in the 2024/25 season representing Uganda at the CAF Confederation Cup. This term they bowed out of the Uganda Cup at the quartquarterfinal stage with their journey ended by last year’s winners Vipers SC.
