USSSA confirms Host Schools for 2027 National Championships

The Uganda Secondary School Sports Association (USSSA) has confirmed the host schools for the National Championships to be held in 2027.

The confirmation follows a bidding process that saw nine schools present their respective bids on Thursday at the GNZ Plaza in Kampala.

St. Kagwa High School Bushenyi will host the National Ball Games 1 and Athletics, and will co-host with neighbors Bweranyangi Girls Secondary School.

Both St. Kagwa High School and Bweranyangi Girls will be hosting for the first time ever.

Kabalega Secondary School will host the National Football Boys Championship and this will be their first time in 12 years to do so having previously hosted in 2014.

Nyakasura School will host National Ball Games 2 with Kyebambe Girls as their co-host.

Janan Secondary School Bombo will once again host the Elite Games with Standard High School Zzana, Ndejje Campus as their co-host.

Seroma Christian High School, Mukono will also host the National Swimming Championship once again.

Seroma Christian High School Mukono (Ball Games I), Mbarara High School (Football Championship) and St. Mary’s College Rushoroza (Ball Games 2) were also named as the standby hosts should the selected hosts fail to pass the  next inspection test in January next year.

Justus Mugisha, the USSSA President explained the criteria used to determine the eventual hosts of the five National Championships.

These included regional rotation, the facilities at the host school, the impact of hosting to the school and the city as well as considering what bid promised excellence.

He further urged the schools that were unsuccessful in their bids to continue improving their facilities and strengthen their capacity to host future national championships.

The 2027 National Championships are expected to provide opportunities for school sports development, infrastructure improvement and increased engagement between schools and their host communities.
