Buddu have reached an agreement with Simon Peter Mugerwa to take over as their head coach ahead of the 2023 Masaza Cup tournament.

Mugerwa guided Busiro to their first ever Masaza Cup triumph after their 2-1 win over Buddu in last edition’s final.

At Buddu, he replaces Ibrahim Kirya who helped the side reach the final last year.

He returns to Buddu where he previously worked as Steven Bogere’s assistant and won the same tournament in 2016. Mugerwa is also the head coach at Buddo SS.

Mugerwa is one of the most successful Masaza Cup coaches having won two trophies as head coach (with Bulemeezi and Busiro respectively) and once as assistant coach with Buddu alongside Bogere.

According to sources he will be assisted by former Vipers, KCCA FC and Express FC player Mike Sulaiman Mutyaba who is currently pursuing his coaching courses.

The primary task at hand for Mugerwa will be to guide Buddu to their third trophy in the Masaza football tournament.

Buddu are two time Masaza Cup winners (2016 and 2021) both triumphs have been under the stewardship of Bogere.
