Boxing Olympic Qualifiers: Shadir Bwogi beaten as Tukamuhebwa advances

Algeria’s Younes Nemouchi ended Shadir Musa Bwogi’s chances of advancing to the Olympic games due in Paris next year.

Bwogi was beaten by Nemouchi in the Men’s 80Kg at the round of 32 on Sunday at the ongoing Olympic Qualifiers in Dakar, Senegal.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games, Bwogi represented the nation before he was eliminated by Georgia’s Eskerkhan Madiev.

He joins Jonah Kyobe and Grace Nankinga who lost their bouts on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bombers captain Joshua Tukamuhebwa stopped Ethiopia’s Alem Gebremariam in second round of the Men’s 63.5Kg round of 32 contest.

Tukamuhebwa will now face off with Gabon’s Henry Lontchedji in the round of 16 fight on Monday.

Isaac Zebra Ssenyange also cruised to the round of 16 after prevailing 4-1 past South Africa’s Simnikiwe Bongco in the men’s 71Kg round of 32 bout.

He will now batlle Lesotho’s Michael Pakela in the round of 16. Pakela beat Boniface Mugunde 4-1 in the previous round.

Fathia Mawanda who got a bye will take on Senegal’s Sow Pape Mamadou in the men’s 51Kg round of 16.
