Buganda sports minister urges parents to emphasize sports involvement in selection of schools for their children

Owek. Robert Serwanga the Buganda Kingdom Minister in charge of Sports, Youth and Art argued parents to always get be mindful when choosing schools for their kids.

At Kawanda SS Owek Serwanga was welcomed by the school’s director Hajji Muhammad Maseruka and the chairman Buganda Schools Sports Committee chairman Gerald Katamba.

The remarks came after Owek Serwanga officially launching the 2024 Buganda Schools Sports Competition that was held Kawanda Secondary School on Friday 8th March,

“I argue the school heads to always make sure they add Sports to the knowledge they give to the students, I kindly request the parents to make sure you take your kids to schools which at least have a pitch/field of play.”

“Sports natures them into patience it’s where they learn to be calm despite defeat that will help us have responsible citizens in the nearby future.”

“I appreciate all those that have made sure these games successfully kick off.”

Kampala Grammar Junior School defeated Muteesa 1 Junior School Zirobwe 1-0 courtesy Muzamiru Kavule’s goal.

Kawanda Secondary School and Janan Schools played to a one all draw.

In netball Kawanda SS humbled St Matia Mulumba to a 29-08 defeat.

Netball, football, handball, woodball, volleyball and basketball are the six games the schools are competing in.

St Noa Junior School, Muteesa 1 Junior School, Bweyeyo Trust Junior School, Muvule Primary School, Kampala Grammar Junior School and Richdad Junior School Luweero are the six Primary schools taking part in this year’s edition.

Wampeewo Ntake SS, Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga, Trinity College Nabingo, Standard High Zzana, St Mary’s College School Kitende, St Charles Lwanga International School, St Austin High School Wakiso, St Andrew Kaggwa Gombe High School Kawala, St Raphael Future Bells College School, St Miriam High School Busabala, St Mbuga Vocational SS, St Matia Mulumba SS, St Joseph Girls School Nsambya, St Francis SS Nsambya, Sacred Hearts High School, Royal Giants High Schools are some of the secondary schools taking part this year.

The others are Nile High School Mukono, Mengo SS, Macau Memorial College, Lubiri SS, Lubiri High School Buloba, Kisubi Mapeera, Kisozi High School, Kibuli SS, Kibibi Muslim, Kawempe Royal College Bulaga, Kawanda SS, Kakungulu High School Bombo, Kajjansi Progressive School, Janan Secondary School, Hamdan Islamic, Greenlight Islamic SS, City Land College Matuga, Canan High School Wakiso, Cambridge Secondary School Kyengera, Caltec Academy Makerere, Buddo SS, Blasio Konde Memorial School, Ahmadiyya Muslim High School.

Action resumes tomorrow Saturday 9th March at Kawempe Muslim grounds , Kawanda Research grounds, Kawanda SS and Nakirebe grounds
