Kariobangi Sharks were playing their first ever continental game in history after winning the Sportpesa Shield Cup which doubles as the domestic cup in Kenya.

Duke Abuya initiated the rout as early as the third minute before Sydney Lokale and debutant Nickson Omondi made it 2-0 and 3-0 respectively.

Patilah Omotto made it 4-0 in the 40th minute but Komenan Konan pulled one back for the visiting team.

Abege got himself on the score sheet flawlessly converting Duke Abuya’s wonderful spadework in the second half.

Fidel Oringa put the icing on the cake with a routine tap in from another Abuya donkey work in the 91st minute.

The two sides will meet up next week for the second leg with the aggregate winner destined to face Ghana’s Asante Kotoko in the next round.

Uganda is represented by 2018 Uganda Cup winners KCCA who already received a bye to the next round. KCCA will face Mtibwa Sugar of Tanzania or Northern Dynamo of Seychelles.
