CAF CL : Ochaya, Mazembe fall to Raja

TP Mazembe lost 2-0 to Raja Casablanca in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter final at the Muhammed V. Stadium in Morocco on Friday evening.

Uganda Cranes left back played the entire 90 minutes as The Ravens fell to their first defeat of the season.

Goals from Ben Malango and Badr Banoun in each half gave Raja Casablanca a deserved first leg advantage.

Malango, a former TP Mazembe forward, headed the home side in the lead as early as the sixth minute while Banoun made it 2-0 with another header 11 minutes to normal time.

The two teams will meet again in the second leg next Saturday in Lubumbashi, DR. Congo where the aggregate winner will book a semi final ticket.

The other game played on the evening saw Zamalek SC of register another 3-1 win over Esperance de Tunis in Egypt.

The two sides had met in the CAF Super Cup last week and the Egyptian side won with the same scoreline.

The quarter finals will resume on Saturday with Denis Onyango and Mamelodi Sundowns taking on Al Ahly in Cairo.

Joel Madondo’s Wydad Casablanca host Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel at the Muhammed V. Stadium in Casablanca.
