Dominant Vipers rally from a goal down to beat Police FC

Paul Willa, Halid Lwaliwa and Abdu-Karim Watambala scored one each as Vipers overcame Police FC.

Hood Kaweesa had opened the scoring for Police in the 27th minute.

Defender Paul Willa also tried a long range shot but was denied by goalkeeper Hillary Jomi who punched the ball wide for a corner on 21 minutes.

The cops who dominated proceedings mainly in the first half of the game saw their efforts pay off in the 27th minute when striker Hood Kawesa headed a flawlessly delivered cross from Yusuf Ssozi to put the home side into the lead.

The visitors started gaining momentum into the game and subsequently Willa tried another shot at goal that gave Vipers an equaliser on 42 minutes.

Lwaliwa headed home off a Watambala cross to put the guests into the lead 2 minutes later.

Pius Kaggwa had his long range shot kiss the woodwork moments after he had been introduced into the game.

Abdallah Mubiru’s charges had three clear cut opportunities cleared off the line by Vipers defenders with the goalkeeper already beaten.

Watambala sealed Vipers victory when he slotted in the third goal past Davis Mutebi who had been brought on earlier in the second half to replace Hillary Jomi.

The win takes Vipers to the 4th position with 14 points after playing 6 games while Police who have played 6 games are a distant 15th with only 2 points garnered from 6 games.

Both teams will play their next fixtures on Saturday 12th October Police FC visiting Busoga United at The Mighty Arena Jinja and Vipers SC hosting Express FC at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
