ETHIOPIA: Impressive Lukwago wins league title, Nsibambi relegated

The Ethiopian Premier League officially climaxed with St. George claimed the title after beating Addis Ababa Ketema 4-0 in the final game of the season.

Uganda Cranes shot stopper Charles Lukwago was instrumental for St. George as they won their 15th league title in history.

Lukwago who is also a goalkeeper of the season contender, kept a total of 20 clean sheets in the 27 games he played for the Horsemen.

Lukwago only conceded nine goals in the process as St. George accumulated 65 points from the 30 games to edge their rivals Fasil Kenema who managed 61 points.

This was Lukwago’s debut season in Ethiopia after leaving KCCA FC at the start of the season.

Striker Derrick Nsibambi and goalkeeper Robert Odongkara were other Ugandan players featuring in the Ethiopian league.

Odongkara plays for Wolkite City while Nsibambi was playing for Sebeta Kenema who were unfortunately relegated to the second tier.

Nsibambi joined Sebeta Kenema in February and managed to score two goals for the club as they finished second from bottom with 25 points from 30 games played.
