Uganda Premier League side Kyetume FC finally captured the signature of utility player Joshua Kigozi on a two year contract.

Ahead of his debut season in the top-flight league, Kigozi has expressed his readiness for a new challenge as a player,

“It is a great honor to join a Uganda Premier League club. It’s a chance that has come at the right time when I’m done with education. It’s time for me to prove my worth.”

Kigozi said in an exclusive interview with Swift Sports

Kigozi holds a degree in Business Administration attained from Uganda Christian University, Mukono.

“I am grateful that the coach has granted me this opportunity. My friends have always asked me why I was delaying to move to the top-flight but I had to wait for the right time.”

“It is a new challenge ahead of me which I know is not easy but I am ready for it. Hard work will help me achieve the best as a player.” Kigozi added

Kigozi can ably play in both the midfield and defensive department. He is expected to be a key member in Livingstone Mbabazi’s selection when the league kicks off.

The versatile midfielder has previously captained Luweero United in the Buganda Regional League and Uganda Christian University in the University Football League. He also featured for Bulemeezi in the Airtel Masaza Cup tournament.

At Kyetume FC, he joins new signings Richard Matovu (BUL FC), Musitafa Mujuzi (Proline FC), Derrick Were (Kiyinda Boys), Raymond Walugembe (Buwambo United), Ezra Bida (Onduparaka FC), Felix Okot (Maroons FC) and Nicholas Kasozi among others.

The Slaughters finished 11th with 29 points when the league was abruptly ended due to the COVID-19 Pandemic in May.
