Mbarara City Football Club and coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi have finally agreed on a one and half year deal, Swift Sports has learnt.

This follows successful formal negotiations between the two parties.

Mbabazi returns to Mbarara City and will be the club’s head coach with Sadick Ssempigi and Yusuf Ssenyonjo serving as his immediate assistant and goalkeepers coach respectively.

The Ankole Lions are expected to unveil Mbabazi soon to fill the void left by Brian Ssenyondo who was relieved of his duties due to his engagements with the Uganda Cubs.

The club has been temporarily under the tutelage of Sadick Ssempigi who was initially serving as Ssenyondo’s immediate deputy.

It should be noted that Mbabazi together with Ssempigi and Ssenyonjo previously worked together at Onduparaka in the first half of last season.

Mbabazi who is also the assistant coach of the Uganda Cranes left Kyetume early last week after his contract was terminated.

He is expected to be in the dug out when Mbarara City play host to Soltilo Bright Stars in their subsequent league game at Kakyeka Stadium on Saturday 13th March.

Mbabazi coached Mbarara City in the 2018-19 season and guided them to their best ever finish in the league before he left to re-join Onduparaka.

Re-appointing the former St. Patrick’s midfielder is a move to save Mbarara City’s season since they sit 12th on the table with 13 points accumulated from 13 games.
