The visiting side dearly missed the services of their lead striker Joel Madondo to injury while the absence of Douglas Muganga (suspension) and Isaac Isinde (now in Malaysia) made the task at hand an uphill battle for Charles Ayiekoh’s men.

South Sudan striker Wol Makweth capitalized on a defensive miscommunication to spring the Ankole Lions in the lead with 25 minutes played.

Mucurezi doubled the lead at the stroke of halftime finishing off another Semugabi spadework.

The second period saw Kirinya bring on Vincent Zziwa for Jeromy Kirya and later Fred Amaku for George Kasonko but couldn’t not change the scoreline.

With 12 minutes left to play, Semugabi finally got off the mark with his first goal in the top flight league since his big money move. The young striker was on the receiving end of a Mucurezi pass and flawlessly made it 3-0.

The 3-0 win means Livingstone Mbabazi’s charges move to 27 points and automatically finish third in the first round with a game to spare.

Kirinya Jinja SS remain 10th having garnered 19 points from 15 league outings.
