In a match where Hantharwady United ran riot over Ayeyarwady United 5-0 at the Grand Royal stadium, Mpande scored a hat trick that sprung him to this season’s golden boot.

Defender Michael Henry had headed Hantharwady United into an early lead in the 3rd minute before Mpande dribbled past the goalkeeper in the 35th minute to make it 2-0.

Two minutes to the halftime whistle, the former Vipers captain buried home a well delivered cross to triple the scoreline.

Mpande receives his match day ball

Ghanaian Mark Sekyi scored the fourth goal of the game with a solo effort from outside the box.

Mpande completed his hat trick after launching a low drive at the edge of the box with barely 8 minutes to normal time.

Prior to the last match day of the season, Mpande was trailing by two goals to Yangon United’s Sekou Sylla on the scorers chat.

Fortunately, Sekou Sylla didn’t find the back of the net in Yangon United’s 4-0 win against Southern Myanmar hence Mpande winning the top scorer’s accolade by 18 goals.

Yangon United emerged as champions with 51 points while Mpande’s Hantharwady United finished 4th on the 12-team log.

Mpande and his teammates will return to action when Hantharwady United takes on Shan United in the second leg of the General Ang Cup on Tuesday 25th.
