NCS partners with Kyambogo University to redevelop Kyambogo Cricket Oval

The National Council of Sports and Kyambogo University have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding that will see the government re-develop Kyambogo Cricket Oval into a modern state-of-the-art cricket, softball and baseball facility.

The event was held by State Minister for Sports Hon.Peter Ogwang on Friday at Kyambogo University.

Kyambogo University Vice Chancellor Eli Katunguka, NCS Chairman Ambrose Tashobya and General Secretary Dr.Benard Patrick Ogwel also graced the event.

“I take this opportunity to thank professor Eli Katunguka and Kyambogo University for rewarding us with the land to construct a state of art Cricket Oval. Many companies have already expressed interest in construction of the state of art Cricket Oval.” The first one is Lyca Mobile, they told me as long as we show them the place, they are ready to help us design and put in plave a state of international Cricket Oval.” Said Ogwang

Katunguka expressed his delight upon the milestone,

“It was a pleasure this afternoon to sign an MOU with NCS to construct the state of the art cricket oval to meet international standards. The next phase is to sign another MOU to develop the football pitch in preparation for the Africa cup of Nations in 2027.”

“I am happy that we are talking about sports development in this University. Through sports we will be able to create a healthy young people in the country.” Said Katunguka

The government will be able to help Kyambogo University secure and safeguard their vast land.

Meanwhile according to NCS Chairman Tashobya, the Cricket oval will also double as a baseball diamond.
