The record champions find themselves in 14th place on the log and will have to call for divine intervention if they are to get maximum points against the Ankole Lions.

Mbarara City come into this contest after holding KCCA FC to a goalless draw at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday whereas Villa played to a similar result with URA FC in their last game.

Last season, Mbarara City drew with SC Villa 1-1 at home and lost 1-0 in Masaka courtesy of a Ayub Bogere (now at Maroons) sole goal.

SC Villa captain Ambrose Kirya is hopeful and optimistic that they can scoop their first victory of the season.

“We are not performing well but we have had some improvement in our last games and I am confident we can have a great result tomorrow. I call upon the fans to come in big numbers and cheer us to fight for positive results.”

Mbarara City will be without suspended Zaidi Byekwaso and injured striker Jude Semugabi. The rest of the squad is fully fit and they will look up to Paul Mucurezi, Ali Kimera and Hillary Mukundane for inspiration.

SC Villa will be without injured trio of custodian Samson Kirya, Yusuf Mukisa and Joseph Nsubuga for this contest. Joseph Ssemujju, Mike Sserumaga and Bashir Mutanda are expected to rise Basena’s side.

Livingston Mbabazi will be seeking for maximum points to add more salt to Villa’s wounds while Moses Basena needs nothing less than a win to save his job.
