Turkish firm to construct Multipurpose sports complex in Lugogo

The President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has endorsed the construction of a multipurpose sports complex in Lugogo.

Turkish construction company, SUMMA will embark on the construction process of the complex at Lugogo.

The development was confirmed after a meeting that was held at State House in Nakasero on Tuesday. Minister if Education and Sports Janet Kataha Museveni, State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang and directors from SUMMA construction company attended the meeting.

“I welcome the proposal by Summa, a Turkish construction company, to construct a modern state-of-the-art multipurpose indoor sports complex at Lugogo in Kampala.”

“The government will support them because we need it to continue developing sports in Uganda.” Museveni tweeted

The multi-sport complex that will be constructed at National Council of Sports headquarters will have key sports facilities such as multi-purpose indoor Sports Arena with sitting capacity of 15,000 persons, a small indoor sports arena with sitting capacity of 3000, 8 lane Swimming pool of 25m long, a multi- use Hockey standard pitch and athletes Hostel with capacity of 60 persons.

The complex will also have commercial facilities such as; hotel and accommodation facilities with 120 rooms, commercial space which includes shopping centres, showrooms, rental spaces and a state-of-the-art fitness Gym.

An administrative Block for National Council of Sports, parking space are the other facilities to be constructed at the complex.
