The Uganda Boxing Champions league returned on glamorous Saturday night at the new Obligato with week 10.
The event was graced by Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi, musician Grenade Official among others.
On the Boxing night, Khassim Murungi controversially beat Derrick Mubiru in the main fight of week 10.
After the fight, the first 5 judges scored 3:2 in favor of Mubiru but the two judges ( evaluator and observer ) scored 2:0 in favor of Murungi.
Following the decision from the evaluator and observer, Murungi prevailed with a total of 4:3.
In the other fights, Najjemba Nadia from Kyengera boxing club unanimously 5-0 defeated Nali Jalia from Zebra boxing club in the ladies light Middleweight bout. This was Nali’s first fight in season two after maternity sabbatical.
Sadat Kilwana (Zebra) stopped Mustafa Sempijja (Katwe) in round four of the Light heavyweight fight while Ochan Samuel (Kcca) cruised 5-0 past Trevor Mudenya (East coast)in Bantamweight fight.
Ali Nsubuga stopped Twaubu Kayanja in the third round of the Juniors weight while Esther Namirimu (Kyengera) unanimously beat Nancy Kwiocwiny (Katabi) 5-0 in Lightweight women category.
Scovia Muzira (Lukanga) also registered a 5-0 unanimous win over Sharifah Nanyonjo (Zebra) in light Middleweight in women category while Brian Nkurunziza (Kololo) beat Hakim Lubega (Zebra) 5-0 in Bantamweight of the youth category.
Bernard Ochieng (Sparks) had a split decision win of 3-2 over Ashraf Galabuzi in Lightbantam in the juniors category.
The Uganda Boxing Champions League week 11 will return on Saturday 23rd September 2023.
