Uganda to host CECAFA U20 tourney

Uganda is set to host the 2018 CECAFA Under 20 tournament slated for 8th – 22nd September 2018.

The development was confirmed by the CECAFA General Secretary Nicholas Musonye in a press conference held in Dar es Salaam.

As host nation, Uganda is expected to use the StarTimes stadium Lugogo and Mandela National Stadium, Namboole as the hosting grounds.

Uganda will also host the forthcoming CECAFA Beach soccer tournament which was rescheduled for August in Entebbe.

Rwanda will host the CECAFA Women’s Championship that kicks off on July 19th in a round-robin league format at the Stade Kigali. Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia will be the only participants.

Burundi already hosted the CECAFA U17 in May this year where Tanzania emerged champions. Uganda finished 3rd while Somalia emerged as Runners up.

The CECAFA Kagame club cup also returned from a 2 year limbo and it’s taking place in Dar es Salaam where Vipers will take on Gor Mahia in one of the quarter finals on Sunday 8th July.

Kenya will host the CECAFA Senior Challenge cup for the second time in succession after hosting last year’s edition. The tournament will be played in late November.
