It only took 15 minutes for Riticia Nabbosa to score her first goal for her new club Fountain Gate Princess FC as they lost 2-1 to Simba Queens in the Tanzania Women Premier League.
Nabbosa officially joined Fountain Gate Princess last week and was selected for her debut against the defending champions at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The Crested Cranes midfielder gave Fountain Gate Princess the lead in the 15th minute when she headed home from close range following a goal mouth melee from a corner kick.
However, Simba Queens who are coached by Uganda’s Charles Ayiekoh, fought back through skipper Opa Clement Tukumbuke and Burundian forward Asha Djafari.
Opa scored through a penalty when Pambani Kuzoya was brought down in the penalty area in the 30th minute.
Asha Djafari made it 2-1 with a thunderbolt strike following a low cross from Kenyan Jentrix Shikangwa in the 62rd minute.
Despite defeat, Fountain Gate Princess their lead on the league table with nine points from four games played. Simba Queens are second with seven points.
Nabbosa will be expected to return to action as Fountain Gate Princess take on third placed Alliance Girls on Wednesday.
