2022 FUFA DRUM FINAL: West Nile seek first leg advantage against Allan Okello’s Lango

West Nile will entertain Lango in the first leg of the 2022 FUFA Drum Final on Saturday at the Greenlight Stadium in Arua.

Both sides have played six games on their way to the final in the campaign that started at the round 16.

West Nile have won five and drawn once in the six games they have played this term. They have also scored a total of 14 goals and conceded just one.

Lango on the other hand, have registered three wins, two draws and one loss, netting seven times and conceding three times.

West Nile are featuring in their second FUFA Drum Final with the first coming at the 2018 edition which they lost to inaugural competition winners Buganda.

This will be the second meeting between the two sides with the first coming in the Quarterfinals of 2019 edition.

West Nile prevailed 3-1 at the Akii Bua Stadium, courtesy of goals from Fred Amaku, Rashid Agau and Vitalis Tabu goals. Fahad Badiro found a consolation for Lango.

Meanwhile, the two sides will miss the services of their key players who are with the Uganda National football team for the CHAN tournament.

West Nile will be without custodian and skipper Nafian Alionzi while Moses Aliro and Rogers Mato are the absentees for Lango.

For Lango the onus will be on Allan Okello while his KCCA FC teammate Muhamad Shaban and Fahad Bayo are expected to lift up West Nile.

The aggregate winner over the two legs will be clinch this year’s championship.

For starters, Buganda Province and Acholi Province won the first and second edition in 2018 and 2019 respectively before the horrendous COVID-19 period.
