The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) have appointed Spaniard Alberto Atuna as the new head of the National Women Basketball team (Gazelles).
The development was confirmed on Monday morning at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
Atuna will be assisted by UCU Lady Canons’ coach Nicholas Natuhereza and JKL Dolphins tactician Henry Malinga.
The Spaniard will officially begin his work today with a training session at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
His major task will be guiding Uganda to the third Afrobasket tournament.
The Gazelles have not participated at the Afrobasket competition for now eight years now due to financial hardships.
The team will now embark on the journey with the forthcoming FIBA Zone V Afrobasket 2023 Qualifiers that will begin on February, 14th-19th in Kampala.
