64 teams drawn in the 49th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup

The round of 64 draw for the 49th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup has been held on Tuesday at the FUFA House in Mengo.

The draw comprised of teams from the Uganda Premier league, Big League and Regional league sides.

Diana Kahunde (Stanbic Bank Marketing Manager), Hon Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi (FUFA Vice President) and Aisha Nalule (FUFA Competitions Director) were all present at the round of 64 draw.

Fifteen (15) UPL Clubs, 16 Big League teams, 29 regional league sides, three from fifth division and one league team have been pitted in the draw.

Defending champions BUL FC who beat Vipers SC 3-1 in the final last season have been drawn against Sparks FC (Mukono).

Last edition’s runners up, Vipers SC will lock horns with Bujumbura United in Hoima while KCCA FC will face off with KJT.

Express FC have been pitted against Buganda Region side Kajjansi United while SC Villa will battle Kireka United.

Uganda Premier league and Big League sides will play their games away from home. The matches are scheduled for January 28th to February 6th, 2023.

This season’s prize money is Sh180m courtesy of sponsors Stanbic Bank Uganda and Plascon Paints.

•Winner – 50 million (1 team)
•Runner Up – 25 million (1 team)
•Semi Finalists – 12.5 million each (2 teams)
•Quarter Finalists – 6 million each (4 teams)
•Round of 16 – 3 million each (8 teams)
•Round of 32 – 2 million each (16 teams)
•TOTAL – 180 million (32 teams)

Each of the teams that qualified from the regional preliminaries will receive a playing jersey.
