Uganda agonizingly missed out on a glorious chance to qualify for the FIFA U20 World Cup after losing 1-0 to Nigeria’s Flying Eagles in the quarter finals of the Total Energies AFCON U20 tournament in Ismailia, Egypt.

Left back Ibrahim Juma was unfortunate to score in his own net against the run of play.

Juma was in the goal mouth when the ball hit him after Nigeria’s Muhammad Ibrahim had it the lower post in the 30th minute.

Uganda sought for a comeback but emerged unsuccessful as the Nigerians jealously defended their slim lead.

The Flying Eagles held on amidst Uganda’s attempts to find a breakthrough.

The Nigerians joined Senegal on the semi final list and will subsequently face the winner between South Sudan and Gambia.

Senegal who beat Benin 1-0 in the early kick off, will face either Congo or Tunisia.
