SC Villa have exhibited a spirited show at Muteesa II stadium and beaten fellow tenants Express FC with a 2-1 victory.

It was the hosts who took the lead in the 33rd minute thanks to a sumptuous Allan Kayiwa free kick that left Meddie Kibirige helpless.

Before the celebrations had sunk in, Villa responded with an equaliser through David Owori who took advantage of James Otim’s poor game reading.

1-1 was the score at half time but 14 minutes after the restart,  Villa got reduced to 10 men following a moment of madness by their custodian Kibirige who after clearing the ball close to his area, kicked an opponent and was red carded by Masood Ssali.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, the Jogoos pounced on another Express lapse in concentration to steal a lead .

Seif Batte fired home with a low shot that beat Otim in the 76th minute.

The lackluster Express failed to bounce back from the deficit and ended up losing the derby home and away.

Villa move within 4 points behind leaders KCCA who are on 35 points. They will return to action on 11th March against BUL in the replayed Uganda cup match and they will face BUL again in the league on March 19.

Express will return to league action on March 19th against Gaddafi in Jinja. They currently sit 11th on the log with 18 points.
