BIG LEAGUE: Kitara consolidate table leadership with crucial win over NEC

Kitara FC maintained their FUFA Big League after clinching a crucial 1-0 win over their rivals NEC FC at the Bugolobi Coffee Ground.

Defender Dudu Ramathan flawlessly converted an 85th minute penalty to win it late for the Sam Simbwa coached side.

The penalty awarded by referee William Oloya came after Lazaro Kambale went down in the area following a push from NEC right back Brian Mato.

This is Kitara’s second league win under the tutelage of Simbwa who took over the start of second round.

The win took Kitara to 40 points, two better than second placed Police FC who drew 1-1 against Kyetume at Nakisunga.

Dennis Lubowa scored for Kyetume in the 16th minute but Emmanuel Mugume equalized for the Cops in the 30th minute.

Mbarara City are third with 37 points after their goalless draw with Kataka FC in Mbale.

Mbarara City goalkeeper Wyclif Mori Manja saved a last minute penalty from Mukisa Emmanuel to ensure a point from the encounter.

NEC dropped from the 2nd to the 4th place on 37 points, same as Mbarara City who have a superior goal difference.

Next on card next week, Kitara will host Kataka in Hoima, Police will visit Ndejje University, Mbarara City host Calvary while NEC visit a struggling Luweero United side.
