Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns are one win away from securing their sixth successive South African Premiership title.

Following Orlando Pirates’ 1-0 win over SuperSport United on Saturday, the Brazilians now need just two points to retain the title for a sixth successive season.

Tapelo Xoki scored Orlando Pirates’ only goal of the game in Soweto.

Pirates stay third on the league standings with 37 Points they have garnered in 23 games this season and are two points below second placed SuperSport United.

Sundowns who played out to a 1-1 draw Sudanese Giants Al Hilal on Saturday in Sudan, only need just two points in their remaining seven games to clinch a sixth successive league title.

The Brazilians are top of the log in South Africa with 59 points they have accumulated in 23 games.

In case they prevail, Onyango who is the only player to have won nine South African league titles will extend his record to ten. He won three with SuperSport United between 2008 and 2011 and the other six with Sundowns.
