Kitende, Buddo to renew rivalry in Wakiso Region Football Final

St.Mary’s Kitende prevailed to the final of the 2023 Wakiso Region Schools’ football championship.

Kitende needed a 4-2 penalty shootout to overcome Kawempe Royal College Bulaga.

The two sides had played out to a 1-1 stalemate in normal time at St.Mary’s College Kisubi playground on Friday.

Kitende will face off with Wakiso district reigning champions Buddo in the final on Saturday.

Buddo cruised to the final after a 5-3 shootout win over Standard High School Zzana in the first Semifinal.

The two sides had played out to a goalless stalemate in normal.

Standard High School Zzana’s Moses Lutete had his penalty saved by Buddo custodian Ismail Yiga in the tense shootout.

Dennis Kisiriko, Musa Ibrahim, Yusuf Ssebumpenje, Hakim Kawuki and Edgar Kiggundu scored for Buddo S.S penalties.

Ahmed, David Mwebaze and Amuza Atakagira scored the only three penalties for Standard High Zzana.

Buddo will renew their rivalry with Kitende on Saturday afternoon at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso. The two sides have faced off in the final for the previous two editions with Buddo emerging as the champions.
