Uganda Premier league side SC Villa have suspended custodian Meddie Kibirige, Swift Sports Uganda understands.

Kibirige was sent off in Villa’s win over Express FC last month at Wankulukuku for an off-the-ball incident against Marvin Oshaba.

The goalkeeper was red carded by the referee but the club chose to stop the player from attending training sessions.

Kibirige has just extended his employment contract with the 16 time Uganda Premier league champions.

In his absence, Martin Elungat will continue as the club’s number one.

Kibirige joined SC Villa in 2020 and has previously played for Vipers SC and Tooro United.

He is also the Sand Cranes captain and has featured for the side at the 2021 and 2022 Beach Soccer AFCON Finals that were held in Senegal and Mozambique respectively.
