The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed that the AFCON 2023 group F Qualification game between Uganda and Algeria will be held in Cameroon.

In March, the Minister of Sports Peter Ogwang has assured Ugandans that Mandela National Stadium will be completed before Uganda host Algeria on 12th June, 2023

Following the latest development, FUFA President Moses Magogo has expressed his disappointments on the slow works at Mandela National Stadium.

“I call upon the relevant government authorities to urgently cancel the contracts of the contractors and supervisors and immediately procure experienced service providers in stadium construction even if it means being obtained from outside Uganda. The country is likey to have a delayed project, substandard work and without value for money.” Said Magogo the President of FUFA as quoted by the Federation website.

Uganda is currently joint second with Tanzania in Group F and will need to win both of their remaining games against already qualified Algeria and Niger to secure a slot to the continental showpiece in Ivory Coast.
