Henry Kitegenyi intensified the chase for the golden boot with a hat trick as Mbarara City thumped Adjumani Town Council 5-0 at the Kakyeka.

Consequently the 5-0 drubbing automatically relegated Adjumani TC who are also semi finalists in this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup.

Kitegenyi opened the scores 7th minute before Nvule Jamie Kisitu made it 2-0 five minutes later.

Kitegenyi headed home Mbarara City’s third from Henry Musisi’s cross 10 minutes into the second half and completed his hat trick at the hour mark.

Seiri Arigumaho completed the rout with fifth goal in the 84th minute.

The hat trick took Kitegenyi’s tally to 19 goals, three behind leading scorer Dennis Omedi of Booma FC.

Currently second with 54 points, Mbarara City will earn promotion to the topflight if they win their next game against neighbors Kaaro Karungi in Ibanda.

Their final game will be at home against an already relegated Northern Gateway.
