Uganda Martyrs beat Kawempe Muslim 1-0 in the first leg semi final of the FUFA Women’s Cup at the St. Gerald’s ground in Lubaga.

Former Kawempe Muslim student and defender Viola Namuddu scored the all important goal in the encounter.

Namuddu scored with a close range header from Catherine Nagadya’s corner kick in the 28th minute.

Kawempe nearly equalized through the recently crowned FUFA Women Super League MVP Shakira Nyinagahirwa whose free kick hit the cross bar in the 34th minute.

It was entirely a dull game that presented less flashes of brilliance and serious goal scoring attempts.

The two sides will meet again in the second leg next week on Sunday to decide which side qualifies for this year’s final to be played in Kumi district.

The second semi final will be between Asubo Gafford Ladies and Elite League side She Maroons with the first leg slated for tomorrow morning at Luzira.

Uganda Martyrs XI; Sharon Kaidu (GK), Rebecca Nandhego, Patience Nabulobi, Maureen Kizza, Stella Namisango, Viola Namuddu, Immaculate Nakanjako, Kevin Nakacwa, Brenda Munyana, Latifa Nakasi, Catherine Nagadya
