The management team of Mawokota Ssaza has appointed decorated Edward Golola and dumped Micheal Bukenya as their head coach.
Bukenya had recently been named as Mawokota head coach and conducted the trials for the team ahead of the 2023 campaign.
This website can reliably confirm that Mawokota decided to dump Bukenya due to his lack of success in the competition and opted for experienced Golola whom they expect to deliver success.
The move will see multi winning coach with St Mary’s SS Kitende in the Copa Coca cola football championship and East African secondary schools events return to Mawokota.
He is expected to work with Kizito Denis alias Deman Denol as one of his assistants.
The former Vipers SC tactician returns to the side he guided to the 2013 Masaza Cup trophy when they beat Ssingo 1-0 thanks to a Farouk Miya late strike.
Golola has also contributed to Vipers’ league crowns in 2010, 2015, 2017–2018 and lately 2019-2020, as well as Uganda Cup in 2016 and Pilsner FUFA Super Cup (2019).
Mawokota are in Muganzirwa Group alongside holders Busiro, Ssese, Mawogola, Gomba and Kabula.
The 2005, 2007 and 2013 winners will kickoff their campaign against holders Busiro on 24th June at the Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
