Over 18 Schools take part in AISS Games

The third edition of the Association of Islamic Secondary Schools games (AISS) was successfully held at Hamdan Islamic Secondary School on Sunday.

The event attracted over 18 schools which included Madinah Islamic, Kasawo Islamic, Greenlight Secondary School, Nkoba Islamica, Mariam High, Top Edge among others.

Mbalirwa Ishakka, Chairman Association of Islamic Schools thanked the participants.

“Education and sports move hand in hand but above all discipline is paramount in whatever you do. I thank the students for the tremendous performances. We have had challenges but we are optimistic that next year we shall clear them out.” Said Mbalire

They participated in Football, Netball and Quran reading competitions.

In Netball, Madinah Islamic Secondary School powered past Greenlight with a score of 16-13 while hosts Hamdan finished in third place.

Madinah Islamic won the Quran reading in the Girls category with Kasawo Islamic taking the Boys trophy.

Meanwhile, the football final was not played since Hamdan fielded an eligible player (David Wafula) who they claimed is a student at Mukono Kings High School.

Greenlight who had lost 4-2 on penalties to Hamdan after a 1-1 stalemate in the Semifinal filed a petition to the organizing committee. Madina had prevailed to the final in their other Semifinal.

The organisers decided to call off the final due since it was too late. Meanwhile, they plan to take the competition upcountry inorder to have students get an adventurous event.
