The Group stages of the 2023 Masaza Cup resumed over the weekend with eight games played.
On Saturday, record winners Gomba beat Ssese 1-0 in Muganzirwa Group contest thanks to a Shafic Ssali sole strike at Kabulasoke playgrounds.
In the same group, Mawogola needed a Benon Niyonzima goal to overcome Ssese 1-0 at Mawogola Ssaza Grounds on Saturday.
Two time winners and one of this year’s favourites Buddu needed second half goals from Pius Ssebulime and Dickson Kigoye to humble Kooki 2-0 in a Masengere Group game at their renown Masaza Recreation grounds on Sunday.
In the same Group Kyaggwe thrashed Buluuli 4-1, thanks to goals from Yusuf Mukwana, Mubarak Mitala and Andrew Odongo.
Asaph Ssegujja scored Buluuli’s consolation at Bishops playground on Sunday.
Still in the same Group, 2021 runners up one of the favourites for this year’s campaign Buwekula beat Kyadondo 1-0 away from home.
Ronald Kaye netted the all important goal for Frank Mulindwa coached side at Hormisdallen Grounds in Gayaza on Sunday.
Ssingo prevailed 2-0 past Bugerere courtesy of goals from Yakin Muwonge and Emmanuel Ajjo goals in a Bulange contest at Mityana Ssaza Grounds on Sunday.
Bulemeezi and Butambala played to a 1-1stalement at Kasana Luweero on Sunday. Abdul Kalanzi had given the visitors the lead before Mansoor Angua restored parity for the hosts.
On Saturday, Busujju under the stewardship of Allan Kabonge played to a 1-1 draw with Buvuma at Maanyi Ssaza Ground.
Robert Nakabale needed for Busujju while Pius Kamoga scored for the visitors in another Bulange Group game.
