The Uganda Boxing Champions League returned at the New Obligato with Week Five on Saturday, 1st July.
Several entertaining fights sent the boxing faithfuls on the edge of their seats at Obligato.
African Boxing bronze medalist Jonah Kyobe didn’t take part in the party as he was ruled out due to illness.
Kyobe was to battle Mulungi Khassim in the main fight (featherweight bout) on the match mark up of week five.
Kyobe’s replacement Henry Kimuli (Mutajazi) was knocked down by East Coast’s Murungi.
Lusojo Shafick overcame Japyem James on split decision (3:2) in the Special Contest.
In the Elite contest (71Kg) Kasujja Richard beat Mawanda Depark on split decision (3:2).
Luo Emma won Mwagazi Ivan on split decision (4:1) in the Junior category (57Kgs) while Mutambi Timothy beat Onyango Hashim by split decision (4:1) in Junior (52Kgs).
In the Junior category (67Kg),Lukomwa Rashid unanimously (5:0) beat Buule Christopher.
Mark Lukomaji stopped Amos Lame in round 3 of the Youth contest (48Kg) while former Bombers skipper Emily Nakalema powered past Erina Namutebi by split decision 3:2 in the Welterweight category.
In the other entertaining bout, Samuel Nsubuga stopped Nuwanguzi in round 1 while Timothy Mutambi prevailed past Hashim Onyango by split decision (4:1).
Action in the Boxing Champions league will resume on Saturday, 15th July at yet an confirmed venue.
