Alex Isabirye resigns from Vipers head coach role citing breach in contract

Alex Isabirye Musongola has tendered his resignation from the Vipers SC head coach job, Swift Sports understands.

Isabirye has notified Vipers about his resignation through a letter seen by this website dated Wednesday 12th July 2023.

The letter

The development follows a series of speculations and growing uncertainty about the future of Isabirye in the Kitende dug out.

Isabirye cites a breach in his employment contract as one of the reasons for his resignation while stating the recruitment of two Brazilian players and his assistant coach from DR Congo without his knowing.

The coach of the season award winner was on Tuesday summoned for a disciplinary hearing citing absconding from duty.

Isabirye says he was recovering and receiving medical attention and notified the club about his situation.

It should be noted the Vipers unveiled Congolese tactician Raoul Lukusa Kayembe as his Isabirye’s assistant.

Kayembe has been tipped to take helm of the club since he has been in charge of the team training sessions in the absence of Isabirye.

While Isabirye leaves Vipers, he leaves his name etched in the club’s history books having been the first coach to win a double for the club.

He won the league title at the expense of Villa and won the Stanbic Uganda Cup after beating Police in the final in Lira.
