SC Villa cruised to the Semifinal of the FUFA Super 8 Pre-season tournament with a 2-1 win over Maroons FC on Thursday at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
Goals from Hakim Mutebi and new signing Denis Ojara sent the 16 time Uganda Premier league champions into the semis.
Hadadi Kambugu netted for Maroons.
Mutebi gave Villa an early lead to send Wankulukuku into a frenzy but at the stroke of halftime Kambugu restored parity for the visitors.
Seven minutes past the hour mark, new Villa signing Ojara restored their lead with a cool finish.
The Jogoos under Dusan Held on to their lead and prevailed to the Semifinal where they will face off with BUL FC who beat Vipers at Njeru.
Maroons will play a classification game with Vipers who lost to BUL FC
The tournament will resume tomorrow as KCCA FC host Wakiso Giants at Lugogo while URA FC will welcome Bright Stars at Mehta Stadium.
