With the 2023 Masaza Cup group stage approaching it’s climax, here is how each group stands and teams need to do to advance to the quarterfinal stage.

Ssingo became the first team to secure a place into the knockout phase following their 1-0 victory over their neighbors Busujju on Sunday.

The two time Masaza Cup winners Ssingo are on 19 points in Bulange Group with two games left to the end of the group stage.

Buvuma who will need to beat Bugerere in their next game over the weekend are second with 12 points.

Buvuma will need to maximize points in both of their remaining two games to cruise into the Quarterfinals. They will end their campaign at home against Butambala on 2rd September.

Bulemeezi who are two time winners are currently third with 11 points and will have to beat Busujju and Ssingo to stand a chance of advancing as one of the best two third placed teams. They can as well qualify as second placed in case Buvuma stumbles in their final two games.

Muganzirwa Group is the more competitive one with Mawokota currently leading with 13 points followed by record winners Gomba on 12 points.

Ssese and holders Busiro are both on 10 points. All four teams have a chance to qualify for the Quarterfinal.

Mawokota next face Mawogola at home before ending their campaign against record winners Gomba.

Gomba will also have to host Busiro in their other group game while the holders will take on Kabula as well.

Third placed Ssese will have to maximize points away to Kabula and Mawogola.

In Masengere Group, Buwekula only need one win in their remaining two groups. They currently lead the group with 16 points followed by Buddu on 13 and Buluuli with 12 points.

Buwekula next travel to Buluuli before ending their group campaign away to Kooki.

Buddu will have to win their remaining two games to prevail to the last eight in the top two positions.

They next travel to Kyaggwe before their home contest against Buluuli.

Current Group Standings

The top two teams in each group will advance to the Quarterfinal stage with the best two third placed teams also cruising into the knockout phase.
