Uganda Premier league side SC Villa have named Ali Kayongo as their new team manager ahead of the forthcoming season.

Kayongo replaces Sulait Makumbi who was relieved of his duties at the end of last season.

Makumbi had replaced Dan Mubiru midway last season.

Geoffrey Bukohore will serve as the team’s Coordinator. He is also a former SC Villa defender who was part of the 1998 double-winning squad and subsequently emerged as a 1999 CECAFA finalist with the Club.

Kayongo’s SC Villa career was horrendously hit by injuries but was able to win the 1994 league title with the club.

Meanwhile, the record Uganda Premier league champions played to a goalless stalemate with Bright Stars in a friendly game that was held at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Thursday.

They will begin their campaign against newly promoted Kitara FC on Friday, 15th September.
